Art is Innovation.
Art takes us out of an automatic way of being, shifts our consciousness, inspires us to innovate. Art in work spaces has been proven to create connections, inspire creativity, and lower stress. We choose art that is meant to be a gateway to innovation.
The bottom line: Art boosts productivity. So say Forbes, The Guardian, and Deutsche Bank, to name a few. By elevating the look and feel of the space, art sets the bar for success.
Law Firm
San Francisco, CA
SLATE supported a national law firm’s move to new offices in San Francisco’s Financial District with the acquisition of eleven new pieces of art. The new artworks were selected to update and complement the client's existing collection, which was primarily focused on local Bay Area artists and subjects. SLATE worked to make the office feel warm and welcoming with hand-made works and references to the natural environment.

Multi-Tenant Office Building
Oakland, CA
Downtown Oakland’s Kaiser Center has undergone a stunning renovation designed by Gensler, creating a space that is bright, accessible, and inviting to both tenants and visitors. SLATE was charged with commissioning three large-scale, site-specific paintings for the lobby by selected artists Amy Ellingson (San Francisco), Audra Weaser (Los Angeles), and Maya Kabat (Berkeley). While all three artists are working in abstract styles, their individual visual languages evoke different references and subjects. “We felt that the triad of technology (Ellingson), architecture (Kabat), and nature (Weaser) summed up several of the most important forces at play in Bay Area life today,” explains SLATE principal Danielle Fox. “Each tells a different story, but together they tell a story of a time and place that many people here can relate to.” SLATE is also pleased to have placed a series of four acrylic on dyed paper paintings by Oakland-based artist Kelly Ording in the Kaiser Center’s upstairs space.
